An open-pit mine has been consuming the city, and polluting the community's air and water. When Source International provided data, the city was declared a state of emergency.

Heavy metals from a mine was causing severe health problems for residents. The Supreme Court of Honduras cited Source International's studies when it declared national mining laws unconstitutional for violating the human right to health.

Heavy metals from a mine were damaging the environment and health of a nearby community. Source International's research helped form the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights, which ordered the company to improve its safety and protect people nearby.
